Siem Reap Gears Up for Fun and Festivities as River Festival Draws Near

Phnom Penh, March 15, 2024 – Residents of Siem Reap are gearing up for the eagerly awaited 8th River Festival, scheduled from March 15 to 17, 2024, with the official opening set for March 16. The vibrant city is bustling with preparation and excitement as national and international guests begin to explore the banks of the Siem Reap River, where over 230 exhibition booths have been meticulously set up.

Visitors, adorned with joyful expressions, have started to frequent the festive locale, sampling food and enjoying the riverside ambiance prepared by local authorities. The festival has sparked a joyful atmosphere, with tourists strolling along the river, reveling in the community spirit and the impressive feat of organizing such a grand event.

Ravi, a 15-year-old local, expressed her delight at the festival's onset. She praised the beautiful and enticing decoration of the festival's main sites and expressed her intent to revisit. Ravi also highlighted the plethora of attractions in Siem Reap, including the ancient temples that beckon tourists.

The River Festival not only showcases the city's historical landmarks, like Angkor Wat, but also serves as a prelude to the upcoming Khmer New Year celebrations, potentially drawing even more visitors to the region.

Pen Rayu, 19, shared his enthusiasm with National Radio of Cambodia, anticipating a large turnout of both local and international guests. He believes that such events underscore Siem Reap's tourism potential and the progressive development of the province.

Rayu also emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness during the festivities, encouraging attendees to dispose of their waste properly to preserve the environment.
